Lampedo part one

I know I’m on my way back to these poems. At the moment the Lampedo sequence consists of the six sections that were shortlisted for the Newcastle Poetry Prize last year. By the end of the year there should be another six to complete the sequence.

 Night of the warriors

On the night your one-breasted warriors

came across the hill, we were a city

acquiescent. Half-alive shamblers,
